Keeping Forms Concise and Relevant

Think about it: Do you fill out long forms on your phone? Do you procrastinate filling them out on your laptop?

One thing this design does really well is provide options. If you don't want to talk to a sales agent, you have another link available that takes you directly to a help page, where product guides, FAQs, and how-tos are all a click away. The search bar also makes it simple to find what you're looking for.

Yeti's Contact Us web page design takes a different approach, which makes sense. Yeti sells physical products, while Zendesk has locations. Yeti's page stands out because it makes it simple to access everything you might need to answer questions about the company's offerings. There are also several contact options posted and an easy-to-access chatbot available to answer questions.

Finally, check out Slack's Contact Us page designs. They've taken the route of including everything within their help center, and the large search bar at the top means you can just type what you need and be taken directly there. There is emphasis placed on signing into the site so you can have a better-tailored experience, but if you don't have an account there are large boxes that let you provide your email address and explain the situation you're seeking help with.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

You have a good idea about things you should do, but what should you avoid? Here are some common mistakes.

The biggest is not including an easy-to-read contact form. Complicated, ambiguous forms are the worst way to create customer engagement. If someone is navigating your website and can't find what they're looking for within a few seconds, they're likely to leave. 

The same can be said for not providing enough contact options. Whether it's a phone number, email, or chat option, users want the convenience of choosing. If they can't find a method that fits what they're looking for, you're more likely to lose them.

Finally, think about anything else that might make accessibility difficult. Complicated Captcha tests, ambiguous confirmation messages, unclear response times, or even a lack of privacy are all going to turn potential customers away without a second thought.
